Madeline continues to do well and is progressing with her feeding which is her last major hurdle until she gets to come home. Kristen and Maddy worked on feeding together yesterday and she continues to do well. She gets tired out sometimes before she finishes her bottle or with Kristen but she's getting there for sure. The doctor has opted to start weaning her from caffeine which is also one of the last steps. The caffeine was a helper for her heart and lungs and hopefully, she'll take to that change as well as the others from the past few days. Her growth spurt finally slowed down a little bit with her only gaining 30 g from Monday to Tuesday. My uneducated guess is that having her handle feedings on her own requires more calories so it might slow down for the next few days. Either way, 30 g is a great gain and more in line with her usual.
She was wide awake when I stopped by yesterday and in case you missed it, check out the video I posted from yesterday. The video was taken right after she had finished with Kristen and was about to start with the bottle. She had hiccups which is why she's a little bouncier but that cry you hear about half way through is one of the other babies. She's still pretty quiet (or at least, when we're there) and her cry isn't a foghorn yet.
Everyday is starting to feel like the light at the end of the tunnel is coming and Kristen and I are getting very excited to bring our little miracle home. While I'm not the best about responding to everyone's comments and well wishes, we really appreciate all of the support we've received and feel very blessed for such a strong support network.
