Maddy Day 4

So as I mentioned earlier, Maddy had a much better day yesterday. There was debate amongst the doctors and radiology if the pneumo reduced or not but the great news is that it did not increase and they are reducing her treatment. This means that her body is recovering on its own which makes both of us so happy that we chose to not put in the chest tube. The timeline for it to go away entirely should be in a few weeks but it feels like we've crossed that hurdle.

Her heart scan also came back stable and without any surprises which was more great news. As long as she stays stable, we're hoping that in a few days, we'll be able to hold her for the first time and we can't wait. That process is called kangaroo care where the skin to skin contact provides a ton of benefits for the baby. She's also getting very close to feeding from Mom's breast milk rather than the IV nourishment which is another big milestone. All in all, it was a relief to have another good day for her and we can't wait for what today brings in this big adventure.
